Women & girls' player development fund

DEVON RFU once again have funds available this season for women’s and girls’ development (non-representative rugby).

Last year we spent more than £3,745 supporting many clubs across county. This year we will have around £4,500 to spend, to support women and girls’ rugby development, and will be holding two deadlines (October 12, 2019 and January 31, 2020) across the year to apply for funds.

These funds can be used to establish or grow women and/or girls rugby within your club in many different ways, for example by funding a ‘pitch-up-and-play’ session, to buy new equipment vital for sustaining your growth, or for social media adverts to advertise your team

To apply to access these funds you will need to submit an application form (see bottom of the page) and submit to Katie Lunnon, women’s rugby lead for Devon by the deadline at katielunnon@hotmail.com before January 31, 2020

Your application should detail a growth action plan on how you would use a funding grant from Devon RFU to grow and develop women and girls at your club, taking into consideration:

• Welcoming club environment

• Marketing and promotion

• Player recruitment

• Workforce

• Kit & equipment

• What is the return on investment

Once you have applied for funds your application will be passed to a committee who review all applications and will award the grant based on merit. We will prioritise funding for recruitment events that will grow the number of women and/or girls playing rugby at your club. Lower priority will be the funding of equipment. We will not usually fund kit (ie playing shirts).

If you are successful Devon RFU will then pay the grant award to your club, on the condition that you submit a report after the funds have been spent detailing the impact that the grant has made on growth at your club.

All clubs in Devon with a women’s or girls’ team are eligible to apply. If you have any queries please contact Katie Lunnon, women's rugby lead at katielunnon@hotmail.com or Amy Gillard, girls’ rugby lead at a.gillard@hotmail.com

Please note that there will be a two week turnaround after the deadline before we will communicate the results of this round, to allow us to independently review all applications. Please bare this in mind with applying, so as not to have an event that would start before March 2020 for the January round.
