Women's representative rugby
This season the Devon women's representative squad will be competing in the Gill Burns County Championship Division One for a third season.
Last year, the squad performed well in their group, winning their home fixture against Gloucestershire RFU, but they lost out to Berkshire RFU and Kent RFU.

Selection, trials and training
This campaign DRFU will be holding a series of six, monthly open training sessions from 9-11am, instead of trials for ladies who would like to be part of the representative team this season.
The first session will be on September 29 2018 from 9-11am at Plymstock Albion Oaks. Further sessions will be held at Cranbrook 3G pitch from 9-11am on Saturday, October 27, Saturday, December 1, 2018, Saturday, January 5, 2019 and at Plymstock Albion Oaks on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 9am-11am.
Any interested players in the county are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible. After this time the squad will be selected for the county program.

Management and Coaching Team:
Team Manager: Katie Lunnon
Katie is women’s rugby lead within Devon RFU and has completed the RFU leadership academy. She has been running the Devon women’s representative team since it was re-established in 2015. For the last two seasons she has also taken on the role of women’s player development within Devon RFU. Katie has been living in Devon since 2013, and in 2014 she was involved in setting up the new Topsham ladies rugby team, where she was club captain for three years until the end of the 2016/17 season when she stepped down as she was expecting a baby.
Head Coach: Greg Richards
Greg joined the Devon women’s representative coaching team during the 2016/17 season as an assistant coach, working primarily with the forwards, and was head coach last season. Greg will again be heading the coaching team this year, as well as working with the backs. Greg is a level 2 qualified coach who is working towards his level 3 qualification. He has six years’ experience of coaching women’s rugby, having coached Cullompton ladies since the 2013/14 season, who play in the Championship South 2 league.
Assistant Coach: Mike Richards
Mike has joined the Devon women’s representative coaching team this season as a forwards coach. Mike is a level 2 qualified coach and referee who has three-and-a-half years experience of coaching women’s rugby, having coached Withycombe ladies since their inception. Mike is no stranger to the county game, having represented both Devon and Dorset & Wilts in the County Championship, and is currently on the Devon U18 boys coaching staff. He is currently plying his trade as a player with Exmouth in the South West Premier league.
Assistant Coach: Altan Ozdemir (Oz)
Oz has joined the Devon women’s representative coaching team last season as a forwards coach. He is an ex-professional rugby player. He started playing for Bristol in 1994, before moving to Harlequins in 1996, and then onto Bedford in 1999. After a spell with Leeds between 2000 to 2002, he played for Exeter Chiefs until 2005, when he moved on to play with the Championship side, Plymouth Albion. Oz works currently as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach. Oz has been a forwards/scrum coach at Plymouth Albion RFC, Cullompton RFC and Exmouth RFC.
Assistant Coach: Ed Powell
Ed joined the Devon women’s representative coaching team in the 2016/17. This season he will again be working as a backs coach. Ed is a level 2 qualified coach who also has an Emergency First Aid in Rugby Union (EFARU) qualification. This is Ed’s fourth season coaching women’s rugby, after starting coaching Topsham ladies backs for two seasons since 2015/16 season. Ed has also been the backs coach for Devon U18 boys for the last two seasons.
