Women's representative rugby
This season the Devon women's representative squad will be competing in the Gill Burns County Championship Division One for their fourth season.
This season the team will play North Midlands RFU, Gloucestershire RFU and Buckinghamshire RFU. Devon women previously played Gloucestershire RFU in the three previous seasons. However, this will be the first time they will encounter North Midlands RFU or Buckinghamshire RFU. Devon women will this season also play two warm-up games against the Royal Navy women’s team and Cornwall women’s team.
Selection, trials and training
This season DRFU will be holding two open trials and women interested in being part of the squad must attend at least one session to be considered for the squad.
The sessions will be held on Sunday, January 19 2020 at Cranbrook Education Campusand Sunday, February 9 2020 at Plymstock Albion Oaks RFC.
Please turn up to the sessions for 1pm and the trials will start at 1:30pm promptly.

It is important you pre-register for the trials so that we have medical information ahead of time and can plan sessions for the correct numbers.
After the trials we will select an extended squad who will attend a training day on Saturday, March 7 2020 (location TBC) from 10am to 4pm, with a warm-up game to be held at Topsham RFC on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 2:30pm against the Royal Navy women’s team.
A second warm-up game will be held at Penryn RFC on Sunday, April 5 2020 at 2pm against Cornwall women’s team.

Management and Coaching Team:
Team Manager: Katie Lunnon
Katie is women’s rugby lead within Devon RFU and has completed the RFU leadership academy. She has been running the Devon women’s representative team since it was re-established in 2015. For the last two seasons she has also taken on the role of women’s player development within Devon RFU. Katie has been living in Devon since 2013, and in 2014 she was involved in setting up the new Topsham ladies rugby team, where she was club captain for three years until the end of the 2016/17 season when she stepped down as she was expecting a baby.
Head Coach: Greg Richards
Greg joined the Devon women’s representative coaching team during the 2016/17 season as an assistant coach, working primarily with the forwards, and was head coach last season. Greg will again be heading the coaching team this year, as well as working with the backs. Greg is a level 2 qualified coach who is working towards his level 3 qualification. He has six years’ experience of coaching women’s rugby, having coached Cullompton ladies since the 2013/14 season, who play in the Championship South 2 league.
Assistant Coach: Mike Richards
Mike has joined the Devon women’s representative coaching team this season as a forwards coach. Mike is a level 2 qualified coach and referee who has three-and-a-half years experience of coaching women’s rugby, having coached Withycombe ladies since their inception. Mike is no stranger to the county game, having represented both Devon and Dorset & Wilts in the County Championship, and is currently on the Devon U18 boys coaching staff. He is currently plying his trade as a player with Exmouth in the South West Premier league.
Assistant Coach: Ed Powell
Ed joined the Devon women’s representative coaching team in the 2016/17. This season he will again be working as a backs coach. Ed is a level 2 qualified coach who also has an Emergency First Aid in Rugby Union (EFARU) qualification. This is Ed’s fourth season coaching women’s rugby, after starting coaching Topsham ladies backs for two seasons since 2015/16 season. Ed has also been the backs coach for Devon U18 boys for the last two seasons.
