Devon RFU support mental health awareness posters

CLUBS in Devon are receiving leaflets and posters to highlight the fact that there is help available for players if they are feeling down.

It is hoped clubs will put the Devon RFU-backed posters on their noticeboards and leave leaflets around the changing rooms and clubhouse.

Devon RFU’s Mark Goodman said: "The Devon rugby family have been saddened at the tragic deaths of young men who have been connected to our rugby clubs in recent months.  The statistics are stark as they tell us that one in eight men in the UK have experienced a mental health problem and three out of four suicides are men.

“We were therefore delighted to be providing financial support to get these mental health awareness posters printed following the hard work of Deb Whiteway and Cullompton RFC, who were proactive in getting the idea of the ground and the design sorted.

“There are hard copies for all rugby clubs as well an electronic version for club websites and social media.

“Devon RFU are delighted to be supporting this initiative in the hope that these posters might just give a young man the opportunity to contact and speak to someone at a time when they need it most."
