Uffculme School to play Natwest Under-15 Vase quarter-final at Premiership ground

UFFCULME School’s under-15 team will get the chance to play at a Premiership ground on Tuesday afternoon.

The Devon side have reached the quarter-finals of the NatWest Under-15 Vase where they have been drawn away to Beechen Cliff.

However, instead of playing the match on their own fields, Beechen Cliff have arranged for the cup tie to be played at Bath Rugby’s Rec ground.

Bath Rugby’s CEO Tarquin McDonald said: “We’re more than happy to offer the use of the pitch at the Rec to Beechen Cliff for them to host their quarter-final. They have done very well to get through to this stage given how many schools compete, and we’re excited to be able to support them.”

Uffculme, who have former Devon coach John Roberts on their staff, have enjoyed a great run in the national competition, which started in September.

They opened with a 64-17 away win over Queen Elizabeth’s Community College, then had a walkover against West Buckland before beating Kingsbridge Community College 27-17 at home. They then overcame Devonport High School for Boys 34-14 at home before reaching the last eight by claiming a 40-7 away victory at Bournemouth School in the last round earlier this month.

Tuesday’s match at the Rec will kick-off at 2pm and is free to watch.
