Proposed Devon Colts' Merit Table groups announced for 2017/18
ORGANISERS of the Devon Colts’ Merit table have announced their proposed structure for the 2017/18 season following a meeting on Wednesday.
The structure has had to be changed to work to the new RFU age grade calendar, which is nationwide.
Colts’ rugby for the first time in 2017/18 comes under the RFU Age Grade Review and this clearly sets out what weeks there can and can’t be competitive rugby within this age group.
This gives all counties reduced dates for competitive games, but there is no reason why friendlies cannot be arranged in other weeks and Devon RFU are also instigating a new Under-17 pilot in some of those weeks as well.
However, the colts' organising committee will be looking at feedback between now and the junior meeting on June 5 before confirming final details.
The plan is that next season there will be three seeded groups.
There will be a club entrance fee £40 per team, which will need to be paid by July 1.
All sides will need do you produce Photo ID for each each players, each game.
Below are the three proposed seeded groups. Fixture and dates will be published later when everything has been finalised.
Devon Colts Plate
(these teams play home or away with top four play-offs . This could be adjusted if teams drop out).
Devon Colts Shield
Devon Colts Cup
(Teams play home and away with top four playing in semi-finals)
