DARTMOUTH capped a fine season by winning the Devon Junior Cup on Saturday by beating Totnes 29-11 at North Tawton RFC.

Dartmouth had already won the Devon Two title and they completed a league and cup double in fine style against Devon One side Totnes.

Lorien Spurdle (2), Jason Gibbs and Richard Lobb scored tries for Dartmouth, with Luke Chase kicking the rest of their points.

George Foster scored Totnes’ try with Scott Hingston kicking two penalties.

North Tawton claimed the Devon Junior Plate on home soil by beating Torrington 13-10 in tense final.

Matt Baker scored North Tawton’s only try, with Alex Dennis converting it and adding a penalty, along with a penalty by David Fewings.

The Devon Junior Vase final was also a tight affair with Devon One side Exeter Saracens narrowly beating Devon Two runners-up Old Technicians 12-10.

Old Techs could have levelled the match right at the death, but they missed a last-gasp conversion that would have taken the game into extra-time.

Niall Cooper gave Exeter Saracens the lead, but Old Techs, who lost goalkicker Paul Ansell early on with a suspected broken arm, levelled with a try by Matt Simmonds.

Paul Edwards scored a second try for Saracens after they charged down a Techs kick. Crucially, that try was converted, to put the Devon One outfit 12-5 up.

Old Techs, who had reached the David Butt Trophy at the start of the season, applied the pressure but could not convert it into points.

However, in the last minute hooker Steve Wilkinson forced his way over the try line out wide, but they were unable to kick the difficult conversion.
