CULLOMPTON RFC under-14s continued their unbeaten season-long run by winning the prestigious Hilversum Youth Tournament in Holland.

Having won the Devon 7s festival the previous weekend, the squad travelled abroad together for the first time in confident mood.

They comfortably won two warm-up games on Easter Saturday against Rams RFC and Utrecht.

At the tournament they beat Belgian, Dutch and English (Evesham and Queen Elizabeth, Barnet) teams in the group stage without conceding a try.

In the final they played reigning Sussex County champions Horsham RFC and it proved a titanic battle with Cullompton eventually running out narrow 5-0 winners.

All 45 tourists (25 players and 20 parents) had a great time in Holland and returned to Devon in need of some sleep but having had a great experience.

Next stop for the unbeaten Cully boys is the Devon County Cup final on April 30 against Topsham at Okehampton (3pm).
