THERE was another successful pitch-up-and-play event held at Brixham Rugby Club over the Easter holidays.

It was the second social rugby session the south Devon club had hosted this month.

The previous pitch-up-and-play event had been held on a Friday night, but the latest one took place on Sunday afternoon as part of an Easter family fun day.

The family fun day was raising money for the RNLI and the club’s youth section.

Plenty of social and veteran rugby players took part in the fun game, which was played in great weather at Astley Park.

“It was a very successful day,” said a spokesman. “Everyone we've spoken to really enjoyed the match - players and spectators.”

This coming Sunday (April 23), Exeter Saracens will be holding the Devon Veterans’ Festival.

The event starts at 12noon and is for players who are over-35.

The festival will be full contact 10-a-side, however, Devon will encourage a flexible format (ie if teams can only get 10 players together then you can play 10 or 7-a-side on full or half pitch depending on how the lungs feel! or if both teams have over 15 then we can play 15-a-side).

If any individuals are looking for a team to join for the festival they should contact Jason Luff on jasonluff@rfu.com
