Devon U17s' fightback is not quite enough away at Middlesex
DEVON U17s ended their season with a 34-19 defeat against Middlesex away at Grasshoppers RFC.
The much-changed team had gone 29-0 down after 25 minutes but they then found their form and scored four unanswered tries to make it 29-19 before Middlesex scored a late try.
The hosts took the lead with a converted try after just two minutes and then quickly added three more.
But Devon pulled one back through replacement prop Lachlann Hooper in the 35th minute, which fly-half Ben Hellewell converted.
Devon made a stunning start to the second half with two tries in the opening four minutes through replacement Jed Griffin to really bring the game to life. Ed Slater converted one of the tries and Devon looked for further scores.
They put their opponents under pressure but could not get another try and Middlesex added a late score.
