Have you considered refereeing?
Is your club struggling to get society refs to cover your games? Can you do something about it? Across the country there is a shortage of referees.
Societies are struggling to cover lots of fixtures on a Saturday and Sunday, and so there is a big push to try and recruit more refs into the game.
It can be a flexible arrangement alongside playing/coaching/teaching with referees able to set their own availability and travel time preferences. For example, can you help cover a lower XV game within your club that wouldn’t usually get a ref? Can you help the club down the road? If you can only do one1 game a month like this, what an amazing way to help the game.
If you haven’t refereed for a while, or you’re worried about getting back on the park, you should check out our #BEPARTOFTHETEAM Kitbag (https://linktr.ee/RFURefereeKitbag) which has loads of resources to give you confidence to get out in the middle again.
Or if you, or someone you know, would be interested in completing the England Rugby Refereeing Award, we have courses happening across the country right now during October and November. Interested in finding out your local one? Check out https://gms.rfu.com/GMS/coursefinder or https://bit.ly/RFURefCourses for the full list.
There is a course coming up in Devonport High School for Boys on November 7 that still has places.
