Devon RFU are saddened by the death of Gill Hoggins
DEVON RFU are saddened to learn of the death of former committee member and long-serving North Tawton official and supporter Gill Hoggins.
Gill became the first female to sit on the Devon RFU committee, serving between 1991 and 1999.
As well as all the work she did for the county, Gill also played a key role at North Tawton. She was instrumental in the club securing a lottery grant to help them move from the Butts to Taw Meadow.
She also helped set up the women’s team at North Tawton. In addition, she played a crucial role in the setting up tag rugby with Nick Leonard.
Gill was passionate about her home town and served on their council for more than 30 years before stepping down in 2017 – a year after her husband Peter, another North Tawton RFC stalwart, had passed away.
