GALLERY: Devon U16s enjoy double success over Cornwall
DEVON under-16s A and B teams both enjoyed wins over Cornwall at Ivybridge on Sunday.
The A team continued their unbeaten season by triumphing 38-22.
Devon had mixed their team up after beating Gloucestershire 67-17 in their last game, but they were still too strong for Cornwall.
They led 24-15 at the break with Danny Tomkinson going over for their first try, followed by further effort in the opening period by prop Jack Ballet, winger Cody Kane and flanker Charlie Parr.
After the interval centre Tom Houghton-King and Ballet added further touch-downs. Oliver Nicks had another good day with the boot, kicking four of the six conversions.
Devon’s B team were also comfortable winners. They triumphed 34-12.
They were 20-0 up at the break thanks to tries by Caine Jackson, Ben Chaffey, Harvey Larson and Joseph Bastin.
Jack Connor extended their lead to 27-0 with a try, which Chaffey converted, before Cornwall came back with two scores. However, the final word went to Devon with Connor, who’d had a try disallowed minutes earlier, finally getting his second of the half, which he also converted.
Devon will complete their fixtures on February 24 when they travel to Dorset & Wiltshire.
