DEVON RFU begin their Jason Leonard Under-20 County Championship campaign on Sunday when they host Cornwall at Ivybridge RFC (2pm).

The Green and Whites have a new-look squad for this season – their second since returning to the top flight of the competition – and are looking forward to getting their campaign off the mark against their Tamar rivals.

“We are really excited for this year’s campaign,” said head coach Nathan Gosling. “The whole playing and support team have worked incredibly hard to get to this point in time.

“As a squad we’ve recognized the value of having strong trusting relationships with each other. The huge amount of work we have done around this will be vital to the success of the group.

“The players and coaches have really taken on board the narrative of writing our own Devon story. They are all full of purpose and determined to make sure this campaign journey is one in which, we can make the most of all the learning and fun moments that come our way.

“The anticipation is building massively amongst all and we are all thrilled at the opportunity to take careful loan of the Devon jersey, making sure we present our best selves and leave the jersey in a better place.

“All members of the group are focused with steely eyes on the weekend and the challenge Cornwall presents.”

Devon have a training squad of 31 players. The 22 to play against Cornwall will be confirmed after training on Friday.
