Positives for Devon U18s despite development game defeat in Cornwall
DEVON Under-18s began their preparations for their South West Divisional Festival games with a development fixture away in Cornwall on Sunday.
Devon used the game at Callywith College to have a look at a host of players before selecting a squad for their opening divisional game with Buckinghamshire on November 30.
Cornwall had already played a warm-up match and so not surprisingly started the better of the two sides and took a 14-0 lead.
But Devon gradually settled and out-scored Cornwall two tries to one in the second half in a 21-12 loss.
Exmouth Community College’s Tom Croal and Devoport’s Harry Edwards scored tries for Devon.
The Devon coaches felt there were plenty of positives from the game and will have other players to come into the training squad before selecting their team to face Buckinghamshire at Weston RFC at the end of the month.
