SIDMOUTH completed a league and cup double by beating Crediton 39-19 at Blackmore Field on Saturday in the final of the Devon Intermediate Cup.

The East Devon club added the cup to the Western Counties West title they had won the previous week.

Crediton had finished as runners-up in the league and their main focus is next weekend when they play Midsomer Norton away in the promotion play-offs.

Sidmouth were keen to end their season in style in front of their own supporters and they scored six tries in the final.

They led 22-14 at the break before pulling away in the second period.

Winger Luke Wells-Burr scored two of Sidmouth’s tries, with their others coming from full-back Sam Meadham, fellow back-three player Rory O’Brien, centre Tom Hodges and replacement Zak Bess. Fly-half Dan Retter kicked the rest of their points.

Crediton had centre Josh Woodland scoring their only try in the first half to go with three Ollie Avery-Wright penalties, while prop Henry Gavin added a late try in the second period.
