GALLERY: Topsham edge out Ivybridge on tries scored in Devon Colts' Cup final
TOPSHAM narrowly retained the Devon Colts’ Cup after beating Ivybridge on tries scored in Sunday’s final at Exmouth.
The hard-fought match ended 15-15 at the Imperial Ground, but Topsham scored three tries compared to Ivybridge’s two.
In the shield final, Okehampton beat Barnstaple 22-10, while in the plate final Brixham just edged out Crediton 29-22.
Exeter Saracens won the bowl final with a 24-17 success over Tiverton.
Nearly 200 players from eight teams took part in the finals day which was brilliantly held by Exmouth, who stepped in at short notice to hold the event, which is sponsored by Ashburton Motor Works.
The Devon cup final winners will now play their Cornish counterparts in the Two Counties’ finals day at Exeter Saracens RFC on Saturday, May 4.
Topsham will battle it out with Penzance-Newlyn in the cup, with Okehampton taking on Launceston in the shield, Brixham playing Saltash in the plate and Exeter Saracens taking on Newquay in the bowl.
