DEVON Schools’ under-15 B team continued their 100 per cent record this season with a 57-7 win over their Bristol Schools’ counterparts at Ivybridge RFC on Sunday.

The victory followed on from their 40-19 success over Somerset in their last game.

However, there was disappointment for Devon’s A team on Sunday against Bristol as they lost 26-10 at Cross-in-Hand.

The B team game was played first and Devon showed some outstanding finishing. They led 33-7 at the break with tries from prop Alfie Aitkin-Smith, centre Jack Mitchell, winger Spencer Phillips (2) and full-back Ben Heale, who also added four conversions in the first half.

Devon continued their dominance after the interval with replacement Joseph Bastin scoring an impressive hat-trick within six minutes. Alfie Phillips and Charles Groves also touched down in the second half.

The A team match was a lot tighter. Bristol went 12-0 up after 26 minutes but Devon pulled a try back through Tully Chaplin just before the break to go in at half-time 12-5 down.

Bristol added a third try 10 minutes into the second period but Devon again came back with a well-worked touch-down in the corner through Yan Mercan.

At that point it looked like the game could go either way, but Devon were unable to build on that try and 12 minutes from time Bristol add a fourth score to wrap up the win.

The under-15s will conclude their season with a trip to Cornwall on April 14.
